Questions and answers

Short answers. The details are in the privacy notice and the terms of use.

What is Getrid?

A to-do list and project planner that keeps your head clear: write a thought down the moment it comes, decide what it means when you are ready, and see your day on one page.

Does it cost anything?

No, the core features are free.

Who is it for?

For anyone who carries a lot in their head: work, home, studies, family. If things slip your mind or a long list wears you out, Getrid gives each thing one place and shows you only what matters now.

How is it different from a to-do list?

A to-do list puts ideas, tasks and things you wait for in one long column. In Getrid you first only write things down; later you decide, one note at a time, what each one is: a next action, a project, something you wait for from someone, an idea for someday, information to keep, or nothing at all. Your lists stay in two drawers; in front of you there is only the line you write in.

How does it work?

In five steps. Write down whatever comes to mind; it lands in your inbox. Clarify each note on one card with eight decisions. Every decision has its list, and places, tags and buckets keep them in order. Once a week the weekly review takes you through all of it. And the Next drawer shows what you can do now and what is on today.

Can I plan my day?

Yes. Give a task a day and it is on that day's list. What you leave undone waits at the top of the Next drawer the next morning for a decision: Today too, Another day, Back to the list or Trash. With notifications on, one message at 08:00 tells you about your day.

Can I plan a project with many steps?

Yes. A project is a road of steps. Where parts of the work go on at the same time, the road splits into flows side by side, which join again when all are done. A step waits out of sight until its turn comes, so your lists show only what you can do now. You can write a whole plan at once, one step a line.

Is there a weekly review?

Yes. Pick its day and time; the weekly review then takes you through the week's days and your lists in order: bring the inbox to zero, check off what is done, give every project a next step, nudge what has waited too long. A list of prompts helps you empty your head.

Does it work on my phone and my computer?

Yes, in the browser: the same account opens on your computer, your work computer and your phone, and what you write on one is on the others. On your phone, open getrid.dev and choose Add to Home Screen from the browser's menu; then it opens like an app.

Which languages does it speak?

English and Turkish, every screen in both. Once you are signed in, switch at the bottom of the Inbox drawer; your account remembers the choice.

How do I learn to use it?

The landing page shows how it works in a few steps. Then Set up your system walks you through it: you set up your places, buckets and first notes in your own words. You can come back to it any time at the bottom of the Inbox drawer.

Are my notes safe?

What you write is encrypted in the database, and its key is kept apart from it. It is not end-to-end encryption: the server opens your text to show it to you. We do not read what you write; only if you ask us for help or the law requires it.

How do notifications work?

If you turn them on, you get one message at 08:00 about your day and the reminders you set yourself. Turn them off any time at the bottom of the Inbox drawer or in your browser's settings.

Can I take my data out or delete my account?

Yes. Delete your account yourself with Delete account at the bottom of the Inbox drawer: everything goes at once, and leaves the backups within 30 days. For a copy of your data, write to [email protected]; we send it as a file within 30 days.

I have a question. Where do I write?

For a question, an idea or a fault, write to [email protected]. For requests about your data (a copy of it, deleting it), write to [email protected].
